About Us

Gurdwara Dukh Nirwan Sahib is a Sikh place of worship and community centre serving the local Sikh community and visitors. We host langar (free community meals), religious services, community events, and gatherings. We are looking for a dedicated Food & Drink Operative to manage and support food and beverage services at the Gurdwara.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation, cooking, and serving of vegetarian food (langar) and drinks
  • Ensuring hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards are maintained in the kitchen, dining hall, and serving areas
  • Assisting with menu planning, ingredient procurement, and inventory management
  • Serving meals to congregants and visitors, managing queues and serving areas
  • Dishwashing, cleaning utensils, kitchen equipment, work surfaces
  • Coordinating with volunteers and staff during high-attendance events
  • Assist with kitchen maintenance, stock rotation, and waste management

2. Minister of Religion one vacancy

Company: Gurdwara Dukh Nirwaran Sahib

Applicants must be practising Baptist Sikhs and fluent in reading their Holy texts to preach and conduct pastoral work and non-pastoral work. Three vacancies anticipated. Responsibilities will involve leading worship regularly and on special occasions; providing religious education for adults (and children if possible subject to enhanced DBS check) by preaching or teaching; leading at marriages, funerals and other special services; offering counselling and welfare support to the Sadh Sangat (congregation);

recruiting, training and coordinating work of local volunteers and lay preachers; to recite the Guru Granth Sahib in their daily activities and from time to time advise and discuss with the Temple Committee and the members of the congregation about the Sikh Rehat Maryada, religious conventions and historical traditions; and to give the Hukam Nama (edict of the day).

Successful applicants will be expected to complete all reasonable tasks set by the Gurdwara

Management Committee. Must be disciplined, humble and pleasant to serve the congregation. Food and accommodation is provided by the temple under contract terms if necessary. 3. RELIGIOUS WORKER JOB

Gurdwara dukh nirwaran sahib Coventry has a vacancy for one assistant Gianis to engage with the Sikh community in Coventry and surrounding areas, assisting the Head Giani( Minister of Religion ) in religious services and general works around the Gurdwara. Duties will include assisting the Head Giani in Sikh religious service, performing katha, assisting in weekly diwan, Nitnem readings and Ardass, reading and recitation of Sukhmani Sahib, Akand Paath. They must be fluent in speaking, reading and writing Panjabi. Ability perform Kirtan, to play and teach traditional Sikh musical instruments is preferred. The applicant must be proficient in either the Harmonium and or Tabla as a minimum. They must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a busy gurdwara environment and be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in all aspects of gurdwara activity and a high standard of respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. A salary is kept in line with the National minimum wage. Accommodation and meals will be provided. The employer claims an exception under the Equality Act 2010.
